Frequently asked questions

What is Cultivating Emotional Balance?

Cultivating Emotional Balance (CEB) is an evidence-based and secular framework that combines psychological research on emotions and well-being with Buddhist contemplative and meditative practices. The ultimate goal of CEB is the development of lasting well-being.

Do I need to have any meditation experience?

No meditation experience is needed for this event. You will learn the basics of meditation as it is practiced in CEB.

If I have meditation experience or have taken a CEB course before, should I take this class?

While the concepts of CEB are simple, they do require practice to master. Additionally, by approaching the class with a "beginner's mind," students can find new or deeper insights with repeated practice.

What do I need for class?

The most important thing you will need is a comfortable and quiet space with a stable internet connection. Note taking is optional and is completely based on what is most comfortable for you. Beyond that, an openness to the material and willingness to work with each other is the only requirement.

What is the flow of the class?

This 3-hour class starts with a grounding meditation to bring everyone to the present. In addition to presentation and lecture, participants will interact with each other in directed practices which can include journaling and dyad (partner) or small group work. A break will be incorporated.

"The guided meditation sessions were a great entry point and have become a pivotal element of my daily life.
