Workshop Description

Relationship building is a core competency for effective non-profit management. The training will explore the importance of managing various professional relationships as a nonprofit leader and deepen the participants’ skills in successfully meeting the various expectations of staff, board, and external constituencies while maintaining a healthy work/life balance. This training will focus on relationships with colleagues, supervisors, and supervisees. The session will explore the importance of self-awareness, understanding and analyzing situational power constructs, and ways to develop and sustain productive relationships while managing up, down, and across the non-profit organization. 

 

Learning Objectives

  • Ability to identify and differentiate leadership expectations for supervisees, peers, and supervisors in the work environment
  • Identify the strengths and challenges the participants’ leadership style presents in each relationship context
  • Exposure to tools to help articulate expectations
  • Identification of best practices in managing difficult conversations in the work environment.

About the Presenter

Nancy Fournier Ph.D. is the principal of Relish Your Role and has 30+ years of nonprofit leadership experience. She is passionate about supporting the work of nonprofit organizations by addressing all aspects of nonprofit leadership with a focus on Executive Coaching, and Executive Job Evaluations. Her coaching practice with women nonprofit executive directors is focused on work relationships helping them manage up, down, and across their agencies for maximum effectiveness. Her performance evaluation work is done in partnership with the nonprofit Board and agency leader. In addition to her consulting practice, she is a trainer with the Greater New Orleans Foundation and faculty at the University of Richmond Institute of Philanthropy. She is a Vassar College graduate with an M.A. in Social Service Administration from the University of Chicago and a Ph.D. in Public Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University.

TSNE's Better Nonprofit Management Training Series runs from October 2023 to June 2024.

Join us this year as we present workshops on essentials issues in nonprofit management such as supervision, financial management, fundraising, communications, and more! We have trained more than 3,000 nonprofit professionals on the skills needed to take the lead in their work and their careers.

What is the refund policy?

Cancellations must be made via email at least 10 business days prior to the date of the workshop in order to receive a refund. Email trainings@tsne.org should you need to cancel your registration.

Where are your workshops located?

All of our online workshops are being conducted via Zoom. A link to the event will be sent to all registered attendees after registration.

What is the maximum number of attendees from our organization that can attend a training?

We limit groups and organizations to 5 seats per workshop. If you would like to have more people take one of our workshops, email trainings@tsne.org to learn about customized training offerings.
