Charities Review Council invites you to FORUM 2017: Forging Trust, where we will confront these questions and deconstruct the cornerstones to maintaining public trust—one of the biggest hurdles of relevancy facing the nonprofit and philanthropic sector.

 Charities Review Council presents FORUM 17, our bi-annual gathering for Minnesota’s most engaged and passionate nonprofit and philanthropic leaders who dare to push dialogue forward and discover actionable solutions for building a more accountable, trustworthy social sector.

 DeRay McKesson National Civil Rights Activist 
With more than a half-million Twitter followers, DeRay is widely recognized and respected for “telling the truth, in public.” In April 2015, Mckesson and fellow activists Johnetta Elzie, Samuel Sinyangwe, and Brittany Packnett launched Mapping Police Violence, which collected data on people killed by police during 2014. In August 2015, the same group launched Campaign Zero, a ten-point policy plan for police reform. Mckesson and Elzie were awarded the Howard Zinn Freedom to Write Award in 2015 for their activism. In 2015, Mckesson was named one of the World’s Greatest Leaders by Fortune Magazine and one of the 30 Most Influential People On The Internet by TIME Magazine in 2016. Mckesson is currently the interim Chief Human Capital Officer for Baltimore City Public Schools and a recent Fellow at the University of Chicago Institute of Politics. He is a 2007 graduate of Bowdoin College, and in 2016 he received an honorary doctorate from The New School in New York City.

Following the keynote, Anita Patel will invite DeRay to join an engaging and intimate conversation with some of Minnesota's most experienced nonprofit and philanthropic leaders.

The Better Together Award will highlight a creative, collaborative, and authentic donor-nonprofit relationship that is changing the community for the better. Donors and nonprofits are eligible to apply. Donors applying should work in partnership with the nonprofit to complete the application requirements.
