Continuum Culture & Arts promotes the creation of innovative, world class music while supporting the people who create it and the culture that surrounds it. Our scope is local and international. Continuum has presented performances and educational activities in eight countries , hosts the acclaimed Soup & Sound series, facilitates international cultural exchange, produces video and audio recordings through Different Track Productions, and hosts an artist retreat on a farm in New Hampshire.Continuum is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Brooklyn, New York.

The Forest prioritizes improvisation and collaborative generative processes in its work. FOREST FEST features performances by the UW Percussion Ensemble, percussionist Bonnie Whiting, clarinetist James Falzone, and The Forest which will give its debut performance and present world premieres of new, original compositions by its members The program on April 1 includes the world premiere of (D)ruminations for Edward Blackwell: Mu Part 1 and Mu Part 2 (Drury), and Sound Field 1 (Forest) a group composition that uses extended techniques, including wind techniques for drums developed by Andrew Drury over the last decade. (D)ruminations is an arrangement of material culled from the classic Don Cherry/Ed Blackwell duo recordings “Mu Part 1” and “Mu Part 2” from 1969. Drury mentored with Mr. Blackwell from 1983 until his death in 1992 and recently began the (D)ruminations series to explore drum patterns, sonic images, and ideas that originate from his time spent listening to and studying with Blackwell, memories that have haunted and catalyzed Drury’s musical imagination for 40 years.In New York in June The Forest will be joined on stage and in the recording studio by guest performer Warren Smith, playing a composition he wrote for the pioneering percussion ensemble M’BOOM he co-founded with Max Roach and others.This performance is one in a series of performances and workshops happening in New England, Seattle, Los Angeles, San Diego, and New York this Spring. In addition to performing The Forest is doing workshops in local schools, with at risk populations, and at the UW, Bennington College, Cal Arts, and UC San Diego.***********These events are made possible with the support of <a href="http://www.continuumculture.org" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Continuum Culture &amp; Arts</a>, a non-profit 501(C)(3) organization, and Jazz Road, a national initiative of South Arts, which is funded by the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation with additional support from the Andrew W.
