Forest Bathing
Experience the healing benefits of nature!
Forest Bathing, also known as Forest Therapy, is a slow, mindful immersion in nature that originated in Japan. During a single morning session, a Certified Forest Therapy guide will lead you in voluntary activities called "invitations" as you slowly move through the Forest and connect with the environment using all of your senses. This practice helps participants detach from the busyness of everyday life and experience the soothing sensuality of nature.
Forest Bathing is deeply grounding and has many health benefits, including lowering blood pressure, boosting the immune system, and alleviating stress. It also helps clear the mind and increase creativity.
Participants will meet at the trailhead for Bay View, located in our Picnic area near the playground. Plan to wear clothing appropriate for the weather, closed-toed shoes, and bring bug repellent, sunscreen, and water. Your guide will bring the rest.
This program is for individuals 16 years and older and is limited to 18 participants.
There is a $10 parking fee to enter the park, but the program itself is free.
For any questions, please call us at our Visitor Center Friday - Monday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. 703.339-2385
