Description

Sponsored by the Arts in Health Institute, this is a free sculpting workshop for Maine Veterans. Learn how to sculpt 1 of 4 animals out of clay with Veteran artist Shawna Barnes- an owl, hedgehog, chipmunk, or a fox.

This is a 2 day class. Please make sure you RSVP for BOTH dates.

On day 1 (April 18) you will pick your animal and learn how sculpt it using stoneware clay. It is recommended that you look at reference pictures prior to the event. You can bring printed reference pictures or a mobile device. Pinterest is a great resource for this. You will have 4 hours to sculpt your animal. Shawna will take your sculpture back to her studio and fire it and get it ready for day 2.

On day 2 (April 25) you will learn how to finish your sculpture, add any extras, create your base, and finish your animal sculpture. If you want to create a scene, you will be responsible for those materials. This will be covered more in depth during day 1.

Class will be held in the Recreational Therapy department at Togus.
