A workshop-performance led by Chia Amisola that plays with networks, ecologies, and computers as instruments.
Flowering a Computer is a workshop-performance led by Chia Amisola that plays with networks, ecologies, and computers as instruments. Using the devices around you, we'll modify, maintain, and steward small programs that activate computers as elements of a small sound ecology. We'll collectively play and perform a dynamic ambient environment together.
Through basic introductions to Javascript (Sockets, HTML Audio, P5.js) and simple sound design, you'll code simple patches that turn each device into a distinct voice: a flower, a cloud, a vessel. You'll also rethink your relationship with your computers, and think about what it means to perform.
Bring your laptop and phone. No coding or sound experience is required (but can be a bit helpful!)
Flowering a Computer is presented as a part of Re–Fest, CultureHub’s annual festival that brings artists, activists, and technologists together to explore our role in re-shaping the future.
