Flourishing Workshop

Melissa Esplin has loved hand-lettering since she was very young. She started a stationery business at 15 and from there her passion for design and letters has only grown. She earned a BFA in Painting & Drawing at BYU with an unofficial “minor” in graphic design.She started out self-taught in calligraphy (it was bad) but has since taken classes from Jake Weidmann, Kathy Milici, Cora Pearl and Michael Sull to name a few. She’s been doing pen and ink since 2009 when she inherited her great-great grandfather’s Atkinson Sign Painter’s book.

Learn how to better flourish your calligraphy with this 3 hour intermediate calligraphy workshop with calligrapher Melissa Esplin. 
We will explore the foundations of what makes an effective flourish, practice drills and how to distill those techniques into your own work and your own style.

Additional materials available for purchase (nibs, holders, ink, pencil). This is an intermediate class, for students with prior experience with pointed pen. Lefties welcome! Please bring your own pen, nibs, ink and a sample or two of your prior work. A reminder email with what to bring will be sent out 3 days prior to the event. 
This is an intimate class, so sign up now to reserve your spot! 10 spots total. 
Please contact the organizer if you have dietary restrictions. We will be sending out an email prior to the event to make special accommodations for food.
No refunds. If you're unable to make it to the workshop, you can have your fee transfered to the online <A HREF="https://www.calligraphy.org/product/modern-calligraphy-class" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Modern class</A> or you may sell your ticket to someone else. Attendees are responsible for selling tickets and notifying Melissa of any changes.
