Come join us for Flourish/Florecer at J. Hood Wright Park for a day filled with plant love! The day starts with a plant walk by Jerise Fogel leading into a cyanotypes art-making project with Josefina Hernandez. The event culminates in a dance inspired by the local plants, often the overlooked ones, and it will incorporate original poetry and music from local poets, musicians, and dancers. 11AM Plant walk: Meet in front of J. Hood Wright Recreation Center12PM Cyanotypes workshop: Main center lawn1PM Performance: Elevated rocky area in southwest section of the park closest to W. 173 St./Haven Ave &amp; dog run Bring your own blanket/chairs/snacks to enjoy your afternoon! Park entrances are along Ft. Washington Avenue &amp; W. 174th Street, W. 173rd Street (accessible) as well as Haven Avenue at W. 173rd Street (accessible). Email flourish42824@gmail.com with any questions or access needs. Flourish was imagined by Jerise Fogel, Josefina Hernandez &amp; Rishauna Zumberg. Performance directed by Rishauna Zumberg &amp; musical director Reza Salazar in collaboration with performers: Erick Montes, lisa nevada, Joanna Nobbe, Marcela Torres, Jinyeoung So, Bureen Ruffin, and Santiago Orjuela. Original poems by Jerise Fogel, Dani "dan" Cole, and Bureen Ruffin.This project is funded, in part, through a Seed Fund for Dance grant from the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone Development Corporation, thanks to the support of the Mertz Gilmore Foundation.
