Join expert knapper Gary Pickett as he guides a hands-on intro workshop on flint knapping. What is flint knapping you ask? Well, have you ever seen a carved arrowhead? If you answred yes then you've most likely seen a primitive tool made by flint knapping.
Flint knapping is the process of creating stone tools by carefully chipping away material from flint or other high-silica stones to shape them into desired forms. This ancient technique has been used for thousands of years to create a variety of tools, including arrowheads, knives, and scrapers.
This outdoor workshop will take place from 11-3pm. This event is outdoors and will take place under a tent but plan and dress accordingly.
What to Bring: Chair and some snacks. Knapping materal and supplies will be provided. Knapping kits will also be ava for purchase during the event.
What to Wear: Jeans and close-toed shoes. No Shorts or Sandles.
The material we will be working with Obsidian which is inherently sharp.
*You must reserve a seat for this event. No walk-ins.
*Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult for duration of workshop.
*No Parking on-site. Limited street parking. Ride share strongly encouraged.
