Flesh Detection

Oracle Egg is an artist-run incubator for experimental music & performance in Los Angeles.Our mission is to facilitate the incubation of new and ambitious work by both emerging and established artists in the field of experimental music performance. We provide the space and resources for artists who do not have the support of large arts institutions to realize complex work that would be impossible to develop in a conventional venue setting. Our goal is to create a nexus for boundary-pushing work in downtown Los Angeles for both artists and audiences.

Doors at 7:00pm | Performance at 8:00pm(there will be no late seating once the performance begins at 8:00pm)NOTESYour ticket includes wine and a vegan (savory) and vegetarian (dessert) tasting. The tastings are the physical representation of the somatic sound exploration between Heidi and Melissa, and should not be a substitute for dinner that evening :)PARKINGThere is ample metered parking on both sides of Maple Avenue which is free after 6pm. /// HEIDI ROSSHeidi Ross is a chef and multidisciplinary artist who uses food, body, and organic objects in performance to explore sentience and the embodied experience. Ross employs time as medium by slowing down labor-based practices, such as preparing a meal, drawing attention to sounds, process, space, and materiality, and in doing so offers a soothing alternative to late-stage capitalism culture.MELISSA ACHTENMelissa Achten is a Los Angeles based harpist focused on experimentation and immersive musical ritual. Her performances directly engage with the listener, blurring the relationship between bodies, instruments, and sound to destabilize and thereby reveal hidden meaning. Within carefully conjured atmospheres, she explores the nuances of surrealism, fantasy, mythology, and the occult and what these say about the human condition. In her hands, the harp is untangled from convention and remade as a divining tool for channeling work that is diaristic, intimate, and cathartic.
