Event description

Description

Back by popular demand, this course is not to be missed. Flash is one of the most popular genres being written and published today. Whether you’re already published, mired in NaNoWriMo drafts you’re unsure how to shape, deep into a memoir project, ready to play, or fully devoted to fiction, the skills required in flash fiction and flash nonfiction will improve your ability to handle scene, embed metaphor, and target a character’s yearning or desire with precision.

In this 4-hour course, you will: learn the defining traits of flash form writing, study noteworthy examples, write from prompts, and receive light feedback. Leave the course feeling confident about scene, concision, and that elusive “so what?” factor that can turn anecdotal writing into a universally impactful narrative. You'll also leave with several drafts started and a clear sense for what to do next, on your own.

Class meets Sunday, March 15, 2020 2pm-6pm.

Cost: $85 General Admission, $76.50 for current FWR Co-Working members. Partial need-based scholarships are available for this workshop.

To register by check instead of Eventbrite, mail your check and a valid email address to the Flatiron Writers Room, 5 Covington Street, Asheville, NC 28806. You will be registered when we receive your check, space permitting.
