What will I see at Flameworks?

Flameworks is home to a community of professional makers working across a wide range of disciplines, including ceramics, glass, jewellery, metalwork, woodwork and more. You’ll be able to explore the studios, see makers’ work and get a glimpse behind the scenes of a working creative space.

Will the artists be there?

Take a look at the event line-up to see which artists are taking part in Devon Open Studios. They won’t all be here every day, but there will always be a few of our makers around and working in their studios, so there’ll be plenty of opportunities to have a chat and find out more about what they do.

Is Flameworks a gallery?

Not quite! Flameworks is a working shared studio and creative community, where our makers are actively creating in their studios. We’ll also have display shelves and an exhibition area next to the kitchen, where you can browse and buy work from our makers.

Is the event free?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Entry to Flameworks during Devon Open Studios is completely free, and there’s no need to book a ticket. Just come along and have a look around.

Is there free parking?

Yes! There is free parking all along the street.

Is Flameworks wheelchair accessible?

Accepted Answer

The downstairs area of Flameworks is wheelchair accessible, but unfortunately our upstairs area is not. Our toilets are also located upstairs and are therefore not wheelchair accessible. If you have any questions about accessibility before your visit, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.

Is Flameworks suitable for children?

Children are very welcome, but please remember that Flameworks is a working workshop with tools, machinery, hot materials and other potential hazards. Children must be supervised by a responsible adult at all times.

Can I bring my dog?

Accepted Answer

Yes! Dogs are very welcome at Flameworks, as long as they’re kept on leads while you’re visiting.

Do I have to sign in?

Please do! There’ll be a sign-in sheet in the kitchen when you arrive. It only takes a moment and helps us keep track of how many people visit during Devon Open Studios. Your sign-in also helps us show the council just how much our local community engages with and
