Ken Scherdell is a four-time age group semifinalist and 2022 finals competitor at the worldwide CrossFit Games. For six years Ken has served as coach to aspiring athletes and fitness enthusiasts at CrossFit Ooltewah.

Creative bent towards woodworking and design led Ken to a seven-year mentorship and subsequent long-term professional relationship with acclaimed designer/maker Hank Gilpin of Rhode Island. He has over thirty years of experience creating high-end commissioned furniture for homes, offices, galleries, and museums across the country and across the pond.

Ken has a degree in health education, a two-year certification in fine furniture design and pursued graduate work at Bethel University and Knox Seminary. Among his varied interests are songwriting, personal fitness, the outdoors, deep reading, and mentoring others.

An enduring marriage to his Canadian wife Joann has blossomed into three children and recent grandchildren. The journey has taken them to Florida to work with marine mammals, New England to raise their children, and to make their home in Chattanooga for the last twelve years.

Woven through Ken’s compelling life story is the discovery of hope and higher purpose through tragedy, brokenness, and joys.
