Overview

PPA Alumni Theatre Company presents FIRST IMPRESSIONS, an adaptation of Jane Austen's beloved novel PRIDE AND PREJUDICE.

First Impressions was the original title Jane Austen gave her manuscript before it was published in 1813 as Pride and Prejudice. Adapted by Ellie Schwetye and directed by Rachel Tibbetts, this retelling weaves Austen’s classic with recollections from a variety of people’s first impressions upon reading the novel or watching a film adaptation. 250 years after Jane Austen’s birth, love of her writing - and this book in particular - still connects us. The "first impressions" used in this play were crowd-sourced from the original 2017 production by SATE, the 2019 production at Women's Eastern Reception, Diagnostic and Correctional Center (WERDCC), and artists involved in this production.

Produced in collaboration with SATE.
