First Friday is an early morning event that provides an opportunity for the campus and local communities to network. We encourage you to kick off your day with exciting presentations on topics relevant to intellectual property and entrepreneurship at UCLA. Light refreshments will be served. About the presentation:

Recent years have seen dynamic shifts in the IP landscape regarding the patentability of software. Against this backdrop, access to large training data sets have led to significant breakthroughs in machine learning and many companies are forming in an attempt to commercialize emergent AI technologies. Join us for a discussion of the factors that are weighed in determining whether software is capable of patent protection and strategies for securing valuable machine learning IP.
