<P>You are invited to encounter Shakespeare's 1623 First Folio. Help theater, poetry, and literature come alive for your students at this once-in-a-lifetime event.    </P>
<P><SPAN></SPAN><BR><IMG SRC="https://gallery.mailchimp.com/bc994aaf9407830b8fe17f07e/images/0ce2d4e2-a33a-4b6b-8bce-e173d8e2b8ba.jpg" ALT=""><STRONG>What is the First Folio?</STRONG><BR><SPAN>The ultimate first edition!  Containing 36 plays and one of only two likenesses of Shakespeare considered "authentic," without the First Folio we would very likely have only half of Shakespeare's works.  Compiled and published by his fellow actors, only 235 of these books survive today.  In celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare's 1616 death, the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. has arranged the ultimate book tour, with a Folio stopping in each state for a limited time.  As the only stop in Idaho, Boise will play host to the book that gave us The Bard as we know him.  Don't miss this unique chance to share Shakespeare with your students!</SPAN><SPAN></SPAN><BR></P>

<DIV><STRONG>Location:</STRONG><SPAN CLASS="Apple-converted-space"> </SPAN>The Arts and Humanities Institute Gallery at the Yanke Family Research Park, Boise State University<BR><BR>Encounters are limited to 60 students per session. Classes from different institutions may be combined to fully fill all sessions.</DIV>

<DIV><SPAN><STRONG>Sessions include:</STRONG></SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN><STRONG>Shakespeare Out Loud</STRONG></SPAN><BR><SPAN>Students will explore Shakespeare's language through interactive exercises and games - Iambic pentameter never seemed so easy (or fun!)</SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN><STRONG>Shakespeare by the Book</STRONG></SPAN><BR><SPAN>What did it take to print and publish a First Folio?  In this hands-on activity, students will learn about the early printing process and build a mini-folio to take and share.</SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN><STRONG>First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare</STRONG></SPAN><BR><SPAN>Students will experience one of the world's most famous books in this docent-led encounter. In addition to viewing this remarkable text, students will learn the history of the First Folio and its nearly 400 year - and 5,000 mile journey - from Elizabethan England to Boise.</SPAN><BR><BR><SPAN>Photo opportunities! <DIV><SPAN>Encounter times are available now!  Availability is limited and requests will be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.  To sign up, please use the "Register" link above. If your class will exceed the available slots for your preferred session by ten students or less, please contact us directly for assistance.  There is no charge for class visits, however schools are responsible for their own travel costs.  <BR><BR>After submitting your registration you will receive confirmation and a field trip coordinator will contact you to finalize the details of your visit. </SPAN><BR><BR><STRONG>Questions?
