This presentation will discuss the Firewise USA® program, current drought outlook, and examples of mitigation work.

Jenna Trentadue is the National Fire Plan Coordinator for the Oregon Department of Forestry. She works with many aspects of mitigation and is involved in ongoing collaborative efforts to plan and address fire risks in Oregon. She is the statewide liaison for the Firewise USA® program, manages all county Community Wildfire Protection Plans, Federal Grants, and co-authored the 2020 Communities at Risk Report for Oregon. She has worked for the Oregon Department of Forestry for the last 9 years with her degree in Natural Resource Management. She started her career working in the field and now works as the statewide manager of these programs and grants, implementing fire mitigation efforts at a larger landscape scale.The national Firewise USA® recognition program provides a collaborative framework to help neighbors in a geographic area get organized, find direction, and take action to increase the ignition resistance of their homes and community and to reduce wildfire risks at the local level. The Firewise USA® program is administered by NFPA® and is co-sponsored by the USDA Forest Service and the National Association of State Foresters. This presentation will be discussing the current drought outlook, stats from previous years, the Firewise USA® program, requirements, exploring types of work that can be done, and sharing some visuals on example mitigation work.
