About Mark Bright:
Born in Chicago, Mark Bright has been passionate about wine since he went to Europe at the age of 15. In 2005, Mark was honored as one of the "Best New Sommeliers' by Wine and Spirits and was featured in Wine Spectator as a "New Wine Turk" in 2006. Mark was the opening sommelier for the flagship programs at the Mina restaurants.
In 2009, Mark and his partner opened Saison in San Francisco. Saison has been a "Grand Award" recipient from Wine Spectator in 2014 - 2018, and one of the World's 50 Best Restaurants in 2016, 2017 and 2018. The team just opened their first casual restaurant Angler in San Francisco in September 2018. (recently noted as best new restaurant in the US!)
Mark is a passionate advocate of winemaking and vineyards in Santa Cruz. It was the diverse soil types and ocean influenced climate that he finds most interesting and drove him to the region. He also produces wines from the Gabilan Mountains, which holds their own unique qualities. The bottling of Partage are focused on single vineyard expressions and smaller production to extract the purest and highest quality of the harvest.
