Kitalys Institute’s Targeting Healthy Longevity 2023 launches with Fireside Chat with FDA Commissioner Robert Califf on Healthy Longevity

Kitalys Institute&#x27;s Targeting Healthy Longevity conference (formerly Targeting Metabesity) is excited to announce its inaugural conference session for 2023, a free virtual webinar featuring FDA Commissioner Robert Califf, MD on Healthy Longevity. The interviewer for the Fireside Chat will be diabetes research icon Jay Skyler, MD (University of Miami, former President of the American Diabetes Association). Register even if you have a conflict, since registrants will receive a link to the recording post-event for easy viewing. The Fireside Chat will be followed by a Roundtable discussion of healthy longevity experts and stakeholders, moderated by Alexander Fleming, MD (President of the Kitalys Institute and founder and Executive Chairman of Kinexum). A﻿bout the Panelists:Steven N. Austad, PhD, Dr. Austad is Distinguished Professor and Chair of Biology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham as well as Senior Scientific Director of the American Federation for Aging Research. 

Alexander Fleming, MD is Founder and Executive Chairman of Kinexum and former FDA Reviewer. Dr. Fleming is also founder and President of the not-for-profit Kitalys Institute, whose mission is to accelerate the translation of emerging advances in the biology of aging into public health, the prevention of chronic diseases and the extension of healthy longevity for all.

David Fox, JD, a Partner at Hogan Lovells and formerly an Associate Chief Counsel for drugs at FDA, advises management teams from start-ups to the largest global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies on matters before the FDA and DEA. 

Steven Grossman, J.D., Executive Director of The Alliance for a Stronger FDA, former Health Staff Director of the Senate Labor and Human Resources Committee, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for the Department of Health and Human Services, and former member of the Board of the National Organization for Rare Disorders (NORD). 

Stephen Kritchevsky, PhD, leads the Wake Forest University School of Medicine’s NIA-funded Claude D Pepper Older Americans Independence Center and co-directs the Sticht Center for Healthy Aging and Alzheimer’s Prevention. He leads the Research Centers Collaborative Network with the American Federation for Aging Research.

Joan Mannick, MD, PhD, is the Co-Founder and CEO of Tornado Therapeutics. Joan has served as the Head of Research &amp; Development at Life Biosciences and as the co-founder and CMO at resTORbio, recently acquired by Adicet Bio and as a faculty member at Harvard Medical School and University of Massachusetts Medical School. 

Kate Rawson is a senior editor at Prevision Policy LLC that co-founded the annual FDA/CMS Summit for Biopharmaceutical Executives and the Biopharma Congress. Kate also helped launch and was a senior editor for “The Pink Sheet” DAILY.

Thomas Seoh, JD, is President and CEO of Kinexum. He is an entrepreneur/executive who has held senior leadership positions in public and private pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies for over 25 years.

Jay Skyler, MD, is Professor of Medicine, Pediatrics, and Psychology in the Division of Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of Miami. He is also Deputy Director for Clinical Research and Academic Programs at the Diabetes Research Institute, University of Miami.


Lawrence Steinman, MD, is the George A. Zimmermann Professor of Neurology &amp; Neurological Sciences and Professor of Pediatrics at the Beckman Center for Molecular Medicine, Stanford University. Dr. Steinman is a member of the National Academy of Sciences and the National Academy of Medicine.
