About the artists

Ta’wa is an artist and cultural worker whose practice is deeply rooted in conviviality, radical pedagogies, and reflexive ethics. They work to consolidate alliances based on mutuality to weave collective liberation through methods that challenge the rigid forms and hierarchies established by colonialism and capitalism/neoliberalism.

Since 2011, they have been researching Lygia Clark’s “Structuring of the Self,” approaching this proposition as a form of social practice, in regards to how it can contribute to re-membering our bodies-territory and to creating abolition geographies.

Collective propositions that unfolded from their practice have been featured in institutional frameworks such as Whitechapel Gallery and Gasworks in London, Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin, Museu de Arte do Rio (MAR) in Rio de Janeiro, and Instituto Moreira Salles (IMS) in São Paulo.

Ta'wa will bring to DanOracle a composition of iron forged through fire, clay, and sweets in reverence to Cosme and Damião - which are one of the elements of the worship of the Twins and the Children in Brazil. Ana Beatriz's invitation presented itself to Ta'wa as an opening to celebrate their most evident bond to the tradition of revering these forces: their grandmother, who for decades maintained the practice of honouring Cosme and Damião by distributing sweets to children every month of September.

In addition, they will facilitate relaxation sessions for inhabiting contact with the relational objects as proposed by the artist Lygia Clark - stones, seashells, and cushions filled with sand, to bags of water and air, used as vessels to feel through different sensations, memories of the body and emotional landscapes.

K Brito

K Brito is a multidisciplinary artist whose work weaves together performance, popular culture, music, and expressions rooted in Afro-Brazilian heritage. Raised within the tradition of Bumba Meu Boi Estrela Dalva—a cultural practice passed down through generations of his family since the time of his grandfather and great-uncle; K Brito has been immersed in this living tradition since childhood.

Through his artistic practice, he bridges the ancestral and the contemporary, transforming traditional forms of popular expression into new artistic languages. His work honors the memory of his ancestors and celebrates Bumba Meu Boi as a space of resistance, joy, and cultural belonging. At the heart of his practice is a commitment to keeping the flame of the Boi alive; preserving and reimagining it as both heritage and living art.
