Finn Fun Day: A Celebration of Finland's Centennial

Scandinavia House was created by the American-Scandinavian Foundation to be the leading center for Nordic culture in the United States. It offers a wide range of programs that include exhibitions, film series, concerts and other performances, readings, lectures, language courses, and activities for kids.

Finland100 and Scandinavia House join together for an all day festival in celebration of Finnish culture through film, music, art, and children’s activities.
 
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS
Independent Visions: Helene Schjerfbeck and Her Contemporaries 12 pm – 6 pm
From the Collection of Ateneum, Finnish National Gallery. Fifty-five works by four female artists practicing in Finland during a period of cultural transformation. Join one of the two guided tours at 12:00 pm and 3:30 pm.
 Finn Fun for Children & The Whole Family 12 pm – 1 pm
Start your day by crafting traditional Finnish ornaments and dancing to musical games.
Award-Winning Movie Born in Heinola (Teit Meistä Kauniin) 1 pm – 3 pm
People's Choice Award movie 2016, directed by Tuukka Temonen. The story of a teenage rock band and Finnish life in the 1990s. The film will be followed by a meet-and-greet with Amanda Young, who is portrayed in the film as a young woman.
Entertainment & Reception 4 pm – 6 pm
Special Guest: Anna Yletyinen, Deputy Consul General of Finland
New York City Finns: A presentation by Robert Saasto
Musical Performances by: Olli Hirvonen, Jazz Guitarist Demetrios Jussi Tsinopoulos, Finnish-Greek Tenor
