Get ready to tap into your potential and connect with your best self in an encouraging, energizing training.

The Office of Substance Use and Mental Health is pleased to announce that the Finding Your Best Self Training will be held virtually via Zoom on June 29, 2025. The Zoom link will be sent to all registered participants one week prior to the training. This training will be presented by Summer Krause, LPC, CADC III, CCTP.

Finding Your Best Self Overview

This presentation will describe Finding Your Best Self, a recovery model for trauma and/or addiction. It can be used as self-help, by family members, peers, as well as by counselors in group or individual format. It offers 36 short chapters, each addressing a specific facet of trauma and/or addiction. Examples include: How do people change?; The world is your school; Listen to your behavior; Wish versus reality; Possible selves; The language of trauma and addiction; Social pain; Why trauma and addiction go together; Forgiving yourself; Body and biology; The culture of silence; How to survive a relapse; The decision to grow; Dark feelings (rage, hatred, revenge, bitterness); Imagination; Create a healing image.


Training Logistics

Cost / Registration

The Finding Your Best Self Training is free and limited to 295 participants. Registration will be available on a first‑come, first‑served basis through Eventbrite. Please register only for yourself so your name appears correctly on your CEU certificate; if someone else registers on your behalf, their name will appear on the registration list instead. The registration deadline for the Finding Your Best Self Training is June 24, 2026.

Continuing Education Credits

The Finding Your Best Self Training provides 5.5 hours of continuing education credits, including 1 hour of ethics credits.

Finding Your Best Self Manual

Individuals who plan to facilitate a Finding Your Best Self group or use the curriculum in individual sessions should have their own copy of the Finding Your Best Self Manual. This manual can be purchased through the Treatment Innovations Website or Amazon

Pre and Post Test / Final Evaluation

There will be a brief pre‑test and post‑test to help measure your knowledge of Finding Your Best Self before and after the training. You will also be invited to complete a final evaluation to share your feedback about the training.

We appreciate you taking the time to complete the pre‑ and post‑tests, as well as the final evaluation once the event has concluded, your input is incredibly valuable in strengthening this training.
