About this event

Work on original monologues written for the actor to work through the process of becoming "the character."

"Everyone is an Actor, the question is how to make a career out of it !"- Brian Cox

(The workshop is open to all levels including beginners.)

The Method Of Choice.

The method of choice is designed to connect the actor to their internal voice and give life to the character through the actors choices. This technique can be used to further explore the inner life of the character and also introduce physical traits or habits that help further deepen the creation of a character.

It begins with the choices made to explore the inner life of a character through the actor’s experiences. This involves using all of the senses, which enables the actor to choose from the different elements explored. A series of exercises that stress imagination combined with concentration offers the actor multiple layers to explore in creating their character.

Classes are done one on one where learning is also observing the transformation and adjustments that an actor can make to realize the inner and physical life of the character they are interpreting. This is achieved by questioning not only the emotion one is experiencing but continually asking:

"What am I doing here?"

"WHY am I here?"

This fortifies the backstory that eventually leads to choices that contribute to the development of a full character. This class pushes the actor beyond their comfort zone to fully take risks and to live truthfully in imaginary circumstances.
