Finding Space brings outer space to the stage, intertwining science, humanity, and movement.
In this powerful, evening-length work, twelve performers bring to life the untold stories of those in space sciences. They step into orbit, sharing their rarely centered stories and tracing the invisible threads between identity and discovery.
You are taken on a journey to the cosmos through a series of vignettes with each dancer fusing their own lived experience with the stories of real scientists, creating a layered portrait of perseverance and possibility. They move through imagined careers, embody our solar system’s planets, push the boundaries of black holes, chase dark energy, fall in love, endure heartbreak, and confront the forces that shape both galaxies and human lives. Expansive, sweeping movement collides with compact, gestural phrasework, revealing the distinct rhythm and identity of each character.
Stories from past, present, and future intertwine, bringing into question faith and science, identity and ambition, belonging and exclusion through the choreography. Bodies transform into planetary orbits, galaxies in collision, and the breathtaking sensation of hovering far above Earth.
This is more than simply a retelling of our history with space. It’s a story about who gets to explore it and what it means to claim a place among the stars.
