About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Each person's grief experience is unique and worthy of acknowledgment and support, however, this group is specifically focused on those who have lost a loved one to substance use either by overdose, suicide, health complications from drug use, or because of your own drug use. If this doesn't resonate with your experience, there are various support groups that cater to other types of grief, and we encourage you to connect with a group that aligns with your needs.

Pattie Vargas, a Kessler-certified grief educator, understands the deep pain of losing someone to overdose or substance use. This group is dedicated to providing a safe, supportive environment where you can explore your grief openly, connect with others who share similar experiences, and find the strength to heal. Pattie’s approach is all about compassionate listening and practical support, helping you navigate the complexities of your loss with care and understanding.

The group meets every 1st Wednesday of the month at 5 PM PST and every 3rd Friday of the month at 10 AM PST. Each session features a structured format beginning with relaxation exercises or meditation, followed by a focused discussion on topics such as releasing guilt, navigating grief during holidays, and confronting social isolation. The sessions conclude with affirmations, reinforcing strength and resilience among participants.

The topics we explore together include:

  • Navigating the Stages of Grief
  • Coping with Social Isolation
  • Managing Unexpected Emotions
  • Letting Go of Guilt
  • Handling Holiday Grieving
  • Embracing Healthy Grieving

The Happier Life Project's initiative with this group is to offer meaningful connections and accessible support, aiding individuals in their journey toward healing and understanding.
