"finally" a compilation play of AAPI-written+performed theatre. Independent senior work in directing of Emily Ballou at Middlebury College.
About this event
Middlebury College Department of Theatre and Dance is proud to present finally the independent senior work of Emily Ballou.
A call for further representation of artists of color, finally aims to explore the ideas of identity, acceptance, and belonging through a collection of short plays and monologues written by AAPI-playwrights and performed by an all Asian cast, live streamed from Seeler Studio Theatre in Middlebury, VT. Each piece in this socially-distanced performance not only tells a story, but brings to life the struggles of feeling different, alone, and the pressure of leaving behind a legacy.
Selected works from playwrights including Mia King, Lauren Yee, Carla Ching, Jiehae Park, Ming Peiffer, Daniel K. Isaac, and Stephanie Kyung-Sun Walters.
Like so many other arts organizations, the performing season has been completely disrupted by COVID-19. For our cast, crew, and creative team, our socially distant performances give us a chance to express our joy and share our passion with a small live audience in house and livestream to a virtual audience. A video can’t fully replace the anticipation and excitement of live theatre but it does allow us to share our hearts with you. A call for more Asian representation, each piece in this performance not only tells a story, but brings to life the struggles of belonging, identity, acceptance, and how to fit in a world that does not want you in it. We hope you will get the same amount of joy watching as we do in sharing it with you.
