For 19 years,FilmSlamhas been Central Florida's only consistent, public screening event for independent filmmakers. We have grown to become a popular local screening outlet as well as a collaborative and creative networking opportunity for independent and student filmmakers throughout the State of Florida!FilmSlam has always been independently organized and run by local artists who donate their time and talents to ensure Florida's novice, student, and professional filmmakers, especially those in Central Florida, have a dedicated public place to screen their works.We are a safe space for filmmakers of all ages, disciplines, backgrounds, and abilities including filmmakers who happen to be female, minority artists, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. Florida's original FILMSLAM RETURNS to in-person screenings in 2022!Join us each month at the Orlando Museum of Art! (Filmmakers: We can only accept submissions from Florida filmmakers at this time.)2022 MONTHLY SCREENING DATES (all shows begin at 2pm) January 9 February 20 March 13 April 17 May 8 June 19 July 10 August 14 (NOT kid friendly)September 11 October 9 (WARNING: All horror lineup. NOT kid friendly!) November 6 December 11FilmSlam has been a favorite of Florida's independent filmmakers since 2004 and continues to be a very popular screening series and networking community for independent and student filmmakers of all skill levels in Central Florida, and throughout the state of Florida! Each screening will run for 60+ minutes and will be followed by a live-streamed Q&A with the crew and cast of each film!Don’t be shy! Have a question about a film in the line-up? Ask one of the filmmakers! We’re sure they would appreciate your feedback! After every screening, filmmakers, cast, crew, and cinephiles will gather to talk about the films they just watched, current projects, and more!FilmSlam began as a project of University of Central Florida's Downtown Media Arts Center (DMAC) in 2005. When DMAC closed in 2006, our venue changed to Enzian Theater where we held screenings until October 2019.
