About this event

You are cordially invited to a film screening and discussion of "Southside Homes: A Catalyst of Hope."

This new documentary, produced in partnership with The HOPE Collaborative - Alliance Health, INLIVIAN and Next Stage - explores the intersection of health, housing, education, workforce development and supportive services for residents and staff, leveraging community voice, lived experience, and essential assets embedded in the Southside Homes community.

IF you are interested in learning more about the social determinants of health which are the conditions and non-medical outcomes that impact how one is born, grows, and lives…

IF you question why things are the way they are, concerning the underlying root causes…

IF you want to know what it will take for more community members and leaders to work together for collective action and impact…

IF you want to see how everything is related…

...THEN you should join us for this timely documentary and discussion on resilience and hope.

We look forward to sharing stories of hope from Southside with you!

About Southside Homes

Southside Homes was founded in 1952 and is the oldest public housing complex in Charlotte with 394 apartments sprawling over 41 acres just outside of uptown. As outlined in-depth in a Charlotte Magazine article from 2020, Southside residents are often living in “survival mode,” acting on immediate needs and feelings instead of planning for long-term goals.

While many other public developments from this time period have disappeared, Southside Homes remains.
