Workshop Overview:

Join us for a Figure Drawing Session at The Monastery, where you’ll have the opportunity to draw from artfully posed models with the guidance of local artist and instructor Julian Miranda. This workshop is designed for artists of all skill levels and provides a creative space for investigating the human form using your preferred medium.

At The Monastery, we offer a structured yet open environment for creatives to refine their techniques and deepen their practice. Throughout the session, you’ll focus on essential skills such as observation, agility, and attention to detail. You'll explore a variety of drawing techniques, including contour line drawing, gesture drawing, and rendering. The class will start with warm-up gestures and anatomy studies, building up to longer, more detailed poses. Whether you’re working with watercolor, ink, charcoal, or something new, you’ll have the freedom to explore and refine your artistic approach.

This class is open to all mediums and experience levels. Bring your own materials or purchase basic drawing supplies on-site. Seating options such as drawing horses, chairs, and stools are available, but please plan to arrive 10-15 minutes early to get set up. The session begins promptly at 6 pm.

Instructor Background:

Julian Miranda has a deep connection to water media, particularly ink, watercolor, and liquid charcoal. His passion for art began at a young age, with a fascination for leaving marks on any surface with whatever medium was at hand. Watercolor has become his signature medium, especially after his dedication to the 30-day Inktober challenge in 2018. Julian's work is deeply influenced by the spiritual significance of water, and he brings a thoughtful, artistic approach to the figure drawing session.
