This event is open to physicians, pediatric pulmonologists, pediatric allergists, and professionals in nursing, public health, education/schools, environmental health and social work/human services.
Course Overview
A look at the past 20 years of childhood asthma research and clinical practice guidelines and a view of current trends in asthma diagnosis and treatment, particularly as it relates to morbidity, mortality and racial and ethnic disparities, will deepen our knowledge of the current state of this issue and assist us in understanding and identifying gaps in policy and programming. We will examine interventions to reduce disparities in asthma that have been implemented over the past 20 years, discuss upcoming research initiatives, and define the gaps in knowledge and areas where further research is needed.
The theme for this year’s event is 20 Years of CAPP: Looking Back…Moving Forward in the Work to Reduce Asthma Disparities.
Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify current trends in asthma disparities.
- Identify interventions implemented to reduce asthma disparities
- Understand how the electronic health record supports guideline-based asthma care
