Libby Liburd

A unique and exciting workshop that complements new show, FIGHTER, and celebrates International Women's Day and the achievements of the radical female boxers that fought for their right to fight.
The workshop will be led by writer performer Libby Liburd and feature a  boxing class with a female boxer.
Participants will write their own theatre based pieces, using the themes of the show FIGHTER as a starting point. You’ll create your own short theatre script and receive ideas to enable you to develop your script further. 
All workshop participants will also receive a souvenir photograph (digital) of themselves in fight gear and ready to rumble!

<LI>All Waltham Forest residents aged 14+ are welcome at this workshop. </LI>
<LI>If you have childcare or support needs, we can help with that too. </LI>
<LI>You must book onto the workshop via this Eventbrite. We will contact you via email to ask you a few questions and confirm your booking. Your booking is not complete until we have confirmed it with you directly.</LI>

Things we'll ask you about: If you are under 18 you will need your parent/guardian to provide consent to attend. Participants will be asked to complete consent forms for photography. We'll ask you if you have any injuries or health issue we need to be aware of - this is only to keep you safe during the boxing class. If you have any access or support needs do let us know in advance so we can support you in the workshop. If you need to bring younger children with you, again please let us know in advance so that we can provide onsite childcare for you.
***NEWSFLASH - Libby is excited to announce our featured boxer for the workshops - the amazing Lesley Sackey! Lesley Sackey became the first British Woman in history to win gold at the European Union Championships 2008 on first entry. Lesley was selected for the female England and GB boxing team and has represented the country on several occasions. She was amongst the first to attend GB Olympic selection camp for women, despite only starting boxing six years prior to that.
