Fiesta Colorado Dance Company Performing Ballet Folklorico with Mariachi International en Denver!


As our season finale, Mountain Jams is thrilled to welcome back Fiesta Colorado Dance Company as part of the the kick off to Hispanic Heritage Month. Join for a day of great music and performance.

Fiesta Colorado Dance Company, under the direction of Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero, has been in existence for 40 years. Their mission is to educate the youth and support life-time professional artists. Their aim is to preserve the Hispanic arts, a fundamental root culture of Colorado.

The recipient of the Governor’s Award, the Mayor’s Award for Excellence, numerous awards from the Colorado Council on the Arts, the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest and the Rocky Mountain News, Jeanette Trujillo-Lucero is the Founder and Artistic Director of Fiesta Colorado Inc. and the Ballet Folklorico de Colorado. Jeanette owned and directed the Danzantes Dance Studio for over 25 years. Her collaborations include work with the Colorado Symphony, National Repertory Orchestra, International Mariachi Festival, and the Fiestas de Santa Fe, among many others.

Jeanette has been the choreographer for the Colorado Children’s Chorale, Arvada Center, Denver Public High Schools and Up with the People. Jeanette has received special recognition from the CCA, SCFD, Hispanic Cultures of the Southwest, Rocky Mountain News and was the honored recipient of the Governor’s Award and the 1997 Mayors Award for Excellence. Jeanette has done numerous educational outreach programs, Artist-In-Residence Programs and summer intensive workshops with the Colorado Ballet, David Taylor Dance, Colorado Folklife Festival, Colorado Showcase, CCA, Community Resources and the DPS Educational Television program. Through a hands-on, eyes-on approach, Jeanette leads Artist-In-Residence programs that lead students to create, communicate and problem solve through dance and choreography. Jeanette’s work focuses on the role of dance in the histories of multiple cultures.
