First Voice Generation, directed and produced by Cynthia Martinez, follows the stories of three Latinx high school students in Holland, Michigan, during an unprecedented global pandemic year. Each student struggles with their identity growing up in a historically Dutch community, feeling that they don’t belong because they are children of Mexican immigrants. Watch as they grapple with virtual learning and other challenges while dreaming of being the first in their family to go to college.

There are 3 times available, and the 6 pm screening has a panel discussion afterwards.


First Voice Generation, dirigida y producida por Cynthia Martínez, sigue las historias de tres estudiantes de secundaria latinx en Holland, Michigan, durante un año de pandemia global sin precedentes. Cada estudiante lucha con su identidad al crecer en una comunidad históricamente holandesa, sintiendo que no pertenecen porque son hijos de inmigrantes mexicanos. Observa cómo enfrentan el aprendizaje virtual y otros desafíos mientras sueñan con ser los primeros en su familia en ir a la universidad.
