Important- Saturday's hike will be absolutely beautiful, but it will also be a challenge. We will be driving from the campsite to Foster Falls to enter the trail and hike back to our site. This will be an all-day, 12.5-mile hike. It is highly recommended that you have supportive boots and trekking poles to make this journey easier. You will need to bring your own pack with water and food for your journey. Call Casey at 615-218-6802 with questions. A helpful blog about the trail can be found here- https://noperfectplan.com/2020/11/07/fiery-gizzard-trail/
Camping- We have the group site reserved at the Grundy County Day Loop. The map at the trailhead will lead you directly there and from that point, you will not longer have access to running water, or toilet. The campsite is a short hike, less that .5 mile from the trailhead. There is a beautiful waterfall nearby to swim in. Gear list can be found below. We have the campsite Thursday through Sunday. We will have plenty of firewood, filtered water, and snacks available at the site. Feel free to stay back at camp or swim at Foster Falls on Saturday. The Fiery Gizzard hike is "hike by choice".
Food- BYOF. We will have some extra snacks and you are encouraged to bring your favorite chocolate to share, but please make sure you bring enough for yourself to have plenty to eat, especially on hike day.
Pets- Domesticated animals of all kinds are welcome at the campsite and on the trails. Please consider how your pet might behave on the trail and or camp before making the decision to bring them.
All are welcome- Although this camping trip is sponsored by Cumberland Heights, all family members and members of the recovery community are welcome!
