Field Trip Oklahoma City Zoo- Oklahoma City

EPIC Families,

Join us for a field trip to the Oklahoma City Zoo on Thursday, May 9th in Oklahoma City! We will have two start times for you to choose from. Our families can walk the zoo at their own pace or find our Epic meet up times to hang out with other families. You can use your Zoo Pass at this field trip. *Note: The Zoo will be busy in May, therefore to avoid the possibiliy of a long line families can pre-purchase tickets through the Zoo website in advance.

Epic Field Trip COST:

• Students: Ages 3-11 years Cost $13
• Students: Ages 12-18 years Cost $16
• Children two and under are free, a ticket is required for entry.
• Adults: $16
• Parking: Free
• *If you have a Zoo Membership Pass you can use that on this field trip.

ITINERARY: We will begin our day by meeting outside the front entrance before passing the ticket booths.

Scavenger Hunt: Students can participate in the scavenger hunt for a prize! Scavenger hunt papers may be turned in at the lunchtime or one of the playground meetup times.

CHECK-IN PROCEDURE: Upon arrival, please check in with an Epic staff member who will be in Epic gear and located in front of the ticket booth to receive a copy of the schedule. We’d also love to see you in your Epic gear!

• 10:00 Check In
• 10:00 Explore the Zoo
• 11:00 Lunchtime- Meet at the West Picnic Deck (Lunch is optional and families can bring their own sack lunch or purchase lunch at the Zoo.)
• 12:00 Playground Meet Up: Meet at the Playground near the Carosel

Group #2

• 12:30 Check In
• 12:30 Explore the Zoo
• 2:00 Playground Meet Up: Meet at the Eleanor Kirkpatrick Jungle Gym Playground near the front entrance.
• 2:30 Field Trip Conclusion (Families are welcome to stay longer.)

POLICIES: This Epic field trip is not free for students, and the learning fund cannot be used to pay for this field trip. You will register using Eventbrite which will hold your spot for the field trip as a reservation. Parents, please register yourself and each of your Epic students who will be participating. This enables the school and the location to staff and plan appropriately. Our field trips do have a maximum capacity. Therefore, we ask that when registering your students, you only register Epic enrolled Pre-K through 12th grade students so that the spots are filled by our students.

Scholarship: If you student is in need of a scholarship where the school will pay for their entrance into the Zoo you will need to arrive early and enter the Zoo with the school at 10:00am sharp for the morning group or 12:30pm sharp for the afternoon group.

Students cannot be dropped off to attend a field trip without a parent or guardian unless they are attending with their roster teacher. You will need your student’s Epic ID number and teacher’s name when signing up for the field trip in Eventbrite.

This is a public event and photographs and or video may be taken during the activity. If you prefer your student to not have a photograph or video taken please let our Epic staff know during check in.

Sensory Bags: Sensory bags will be available to check out for use at this event. Upon arrival, see any Epic Family Engagement team member to check a bag out and return all sensory bags to an Epic Family Engagement team member before leaving the event. There is a limited supply of sensory bags.

CANCELLATIONS:

How do I cancel my family's reservation? To cancel the reservation and allow other students to attend in those spots you will go to the email sent from Eventbrite with the subject line: Your Tickets for the Oklahoma City Zoo field trip. Then scroll to the bottom of the email and click the words "View and Manage your online order." This will open up spots for other families and is very important as the location needs accurate numbers before we arrive.

What is the inclement Weather Plan? If we have inclement weather, or an unforeseen need to cancel this event we will send out communication by email through Eventbrite to the adult who registered your family for this event to let you know that the field trip has been canceled.
