Gone to the Dogs® is known for our puppy products, but this workshop is for the cat parents & lovers with a passion for handmade and sustainable craft! In this simple but comprehensive, hands-on felting workshop you’ll learn wet felting, needle felting, and basic sewing techniques, and use them to create an adorable and engaging string toy from entirely upcycled materials!
And here’s what makes this workshop extra special: We’ll be using reclaimed wool from our toy recycling program & the nylon core from our ropewear—giving new purpose to fibers that have already been loved.

What We’ll Cover:
✅ Wet Felting- Creating a simple wool ball
✅ Basic Sewing- Creating an adorable stuffed toy from recycled felt
✅ Needle Felting- Adding details to felt creations & repairing damaged toys
This workshop is hands-on and beginner-friendly—no prior felting experience needed! You’ll leave with a unique, low waste cat toy, plus all the skills you need to continue your felting journey!
💡 We’ll provide everything you need to make the perfect string toy including optional catnip!
💡 IMPORTANT Guidelines:
- In this workshop, we will use sewing and felting needles. We will discuss tool safety together during the workshop, and it is important to heed these instructions to avoid the possibility of minor injury.
A Cozy Crafting Space, Just for You
We’ll have a self-serve tea station and light snacks to keep you fueled while you create. Feel free to bring your own beverage if you prefer!

Yes! We’ll have a self-serve tea station with herbal teas and light snacks to keep you fueled while you craft. You’re also welcome to bring your own beverage.
The workshop will run for approximately 2 hours, including time for instruction, hands-on felting, and Q&A.
Needle felting involves sharp tools, so please handle them with care. We’ll provide safety instructions, but Gone to the Dogs is not responsible for any injuries. By attending, you agree to our liability waiver (see event description).
This workshop is recommended for adults and responsible teens (16+). If a participant under 18 attends, they must be accompanied by a parent or guardian who assumes full responsibility for their safety.
We looove dogs! Well-socialized, friendly dogs are welcome to join, as long as you assume full responsibility for them during the workshop. Keep in mind that needle felting involves sharp tools, so pups should be comfortable settling in a designated spot while you work.
Due to limited space and material costs, tickets are non-refundable. If you can’t make it, you’re welcome to transfer your ticket to a friend—just let us know in advance!
