This first edition of Feathers - On Ground is being hosted by NedSpace in downtown Portland.Feathers offers silent companionship for those who are grieving.Feathers offers dignity and respect to those who are grieving.Feathers offers a comfortable place to be during the grieving process. WHAT FEATHERS OFFERSThis is solely a community space for people to be together as they grieve.Grievers will select a wrist band that denotes whether they prefer to be in silence or open to some conversation.Grievers can bring a box of tissues, knitting, quilting, a book.Please do not bring electronic items, including Kindles or e-books, laptops or tablets.Phones must be silenced or placed in airplane mode. WHAT FEATHERS DOES NOT OFFERFeathers does not offer therapy or counseling.Feathers does not offer guidance or workshops in grief.Feathers does not offer space for those who want to discuss their grief with others. WHAT TO EXPECTYou will be welcomed into a comfortable and comforting space where you will choose a wristband:Yellow means you prefer to be silent. Aqua means you are open to talk.You will also be offered tea. SILENCE AND OPEN TO TALKSilence means just that. No one will approach you to speak, nor are you expected to speak. You may enter, stay and leave the space in silence.Open to talk: This doesn’t guarantee that someone will approach you to speak. If you do wish to talk, please raise a hand and a facilitator will join you. Talking does not include providing details or a description about your grief. However, you are welcome to speak about how you’re feeling at this specific time in this specific place. RULESIn the interests of keeping one another safe, please ensure that you have not experienced or are experiencing COVID symptoms, and have not been knowingly in contact with someone with COVID symptoms.Respect the preference of someone wearing a silence wrist band.If someone is disrespecting another person’s space or preference, that person will be asked to leave.Grievers are requested not to scroll through their phones or take calls. Should you need to take or make a call, please leave the space.Grievers are requested to be quiet in their grief, respecting others who are sharing the space.
