Frequently asked questions

Can I bring my kids?

The more, the merrier! But for overall safety, no kids under 14 please. By attending, you assume any and all liabilities for your offspring and yourself.

What should I wear?

HEAD: Baseball cap, brimmed hat, braids or ponytail; TORSO: Loose t-shirt or old button-down shirt; LEGS: Overalls, cargo pants, loose jeans; FEET: Hiking boots, work boots, high top sneakers, thick crew socks; AVOID: shorts, open-toe sandals, tight pants/leggings, tanks, ankle socks

What should I leave at home?

Coughs, sneezing, any type of sniffles, any type of COVID, guns, knives > 4" or other weapons that may make others feel unsafe; illegal drugs, alcohol or wine, any form of cannabis (incl. gummies); fleas, bedbugs; electronic devices aside from phone; cranky, mean, ego-driven or bullying attitudes!

Will anything be provided?

YES! Parking is included (let us know if you have oil leaks so we can protect our grounds). PDF Lists & Resource Guide handouts are included and will be emailed to you a few days prior to the event as an event reminder. Water filtration, foraging/cooking supplies & first aid access are also incl.

How will I find this venue?

To keep this a hidden gem, Atlantans will meet @ the Walmart Supercenter @6:30a on 2/25. About 45 min passed North Augusta, we'll arrive at the SAC Campgrounds around 9am & ensure everyone is there, then caravan to the venue together. The venue is a farm, not a residence, FYI.

What and how will we eat?

OKAY to bring snacks in paper bags (no plastic wrappers, please!). Additional food will be foraged by your team, then cooked by fire you'll create!

Are there any possible wilderness hazards?

YES. Snakes are common, although never seen on our property since owning it (4 yrs). Brown Recluse & Black Widow spiders have been spotted, but were exterminated immediately. Foxes (1x), deers (100x) and dogs (2x) have been spotted. Toxic hallucinogenic mushrooms exist in Autumn (AVOID)!

Will any safety measures be in place?

YES! This is a fully fenced & gated property with... 2 fire extinguishers, solar night lights, 100% cell phone reception, comprehensive ER first aid kits, an ER tire pump & battery starter, plus really strong guardian angels.

Is this really 100% off-grid?

YES! All electricity = solar/battery. All water = distilled/rain-sourced. It is similar to a park/campground. Outdoor visibility lights activate at dusk. "Porta-potty" bathrooms (M/F) avail. Tissue + hand cleansing avail.

What if I forget something at home?

Don't worry! It's not North Dakota! A Walmart is only 20 min. away or less. A gas station is about 12 min. away. And on-site items will be available for purchase for those interested.

What should I bring?

Reusable (filled) water bottle, notepad and pen for note-taking, utility gloves & an open-mind. OPTIONAL: rope, flashlight or headlight, a personal cooler with snacks as desired.

Is there any prerequisite or skill level required to attend?

NO. This event is open to ALL ADULTS! Singles. Couples. City slickers who are used to swiping left. Country dwellers who are used to what cows left. All skill levels are welcome!

Will this event be cancelled under any circumstances?

YES. If a new stay home order is mandated for the state of South Carolina, this event will be cancelled. Otherwise, this event is a GO--RAIN, HURRICANE, SNOW OR SHINE!

Is there anything else I should know?

This event will be like having a child. You can't prepare for EVERYTHING, but it's fun to practice! Seriously, this may seem out of your comfort zone or perhaps a bit intimidating, but once you return to the city, you'll feel more confident, prepared, skilled & fearless, without a doubt!
