Fastnet: Landscape Drawing Workshop

At 2,200 acres, Freshkills Park will be almost three times the size of Central Park and the largest park developed in New York City in over 100 years. Free tours offer insights into ongoing development and unmatched views, and recreational programs provide opportunities to experience the hills and waterways before the park officially opens.

Join us at Freshkills Park for an artist-led observational drawing workshop in Fastnet, a shipping container converted into an art studio.<a href="http://freshkillspark.org/blog/drawing-outside-at-freshkills-park-with-fastnet" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Fastnet</a> was purchased by artist <a href="http://jamespowers.us/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">James Powers</a> in 2015. Since then, the container has been used as a gallery, sauna, and gathering space. At Freshkills Park, Fastnet is fitted with drawing horses in order to lead plein-air observational drawing workshops.Ticket Info: Each ticket admits 1 person. This workshop is open to all ages, but minors must remain accompanied by an adult for the duration of the program. Anyone coming on site must reserve a ticket for themselves.Transportation: All participants must provide their own car that will stay on-site the whole time. Participants may not use a bicycle, taxi or ride-share service.Due to limited reservations, carpooling with friends and family is encouraged.Note: Please dress warmly, this workshop will take place outdoors.Space is very limited. This workshop is free, but registration is required.
