FASHION UPCYCLING SUMMER CAMP FOR KIDS AND TEENS

Sewing Experience: All levels welcome. No previous sewing experience is required to attend this camp. Our instructors will teach kids how to operate a sewing machine safely and assist them in making their projects.

Age Requirements: We ask that kids be over 7 years old or older to attend this camp.

Materials: Please send a small bag of old or unworn clothes with your child. We will provide all other materials, including sewing machines. Please bring a snack and a water bottle.

Calling all young fashionistas with an eye for sustainability and reducing their carbon foot-print. This camp focuses on creatively reusing and re-purposing fabrics and textiles from t-shirts, to jeans, and beyond, turning them into fashionable products. A must for anyone wanting to be part of the change in our consumer driven world — students develop a pride and appreciation for their resources as they give new life to things that are otherwise destined for the landfill.

This fun camp is all about re-purposing and responsible fashion. Campers will learn how to turn old fashion collected from the community into stylish accessories. They will use fabrics like used denim, unwanted t-shirts, old belts and swatches to design and create one-of-a-kind bags, scarves, belts, hair accessories and more.

WHAT WILL YOU LEARN IN CAMP?

  • Learn to be creative and resourceful as you re-purpose used fabrics and trims into stylish new fashion items while being empowered about doing their part in reducing our carbon footprint.
  • Learn lessons in geometry, composition, proportion and color theory as you explore creative hand and machine sewing, weaving and jewelry-making techniques.
  • Learn how your clothing choices impact waterways, ocean life and our natural world.
  • Grow into responsible consumers and strong stewards of our planet.
