About this event

Kids and their grown-ups will learn about the surrounding flora, fungi and fauna while exploring the woods with the team from Winding Brook Farms - mushrooms and more. As a knowledgeable bush crafter and certified mushroom forager, Shannon will share his knowledge of “all things forest” and Teresa is an enthusiastic educator with years of experience. If your kiddo(s) is a budding earth scientist or nature enthusiast, you should definitely attend. Each kiddo will get a FOREST FORAY FINDS booklet to complete on our journey. Once registered you will receive a confirmation email from us with details about the foray (important! check the FAQ section on this Eventbrite post). The day before the foray the location will be announced via email and text. The weather changes quickly in NC (plus it is spring) make sure to include a phone number, during checkout, where you can be reached the day of the event.

What should we bring with us for the Nature Foray?

The intended trail is easy, so sneakers with tread will be fine. You may also want to bring water, a cell phone/camera, bug spray, a snack, and an easy-to-carry bag/backpack.

Are there risks to woodland hiking?

As always, when hiking you do so at your own risk and Winding Brook Farms - mushrooms and more is not liable for injury, snake bite, or illness. You will be asked to sign a “hold harmless” waiver at the beginning of the afternoon's adventure.

What ages are recommended for this adventure?

Adults (18+) & children (3+) pacing will match the group. Children younger than three are free but must have one-on-one assistance with activities and hiking from an adult. Adult family members are responsible for their kiddos at all times during the foray. Tickets should match your family's size.

Is there a weather and/or cancelation refund policy?

The foray is held outside and will only be canceled due to severe weather. We also understand that sometimes "life happens" and you might not be able to attend. Any fees collected can be applied to future events or our fresh culinary mushroom products. At this time we do not offer refunds.

Can my dog(s) attend?

Since this is a mixed group of all ages our dog pals will need to stay at home. If you are interested in participating in a foray that includes dogs, let us know! We would love to arrange a "best buddy" dog foray event. Email us at windingbrookfarms@gmail.com
