About this event

A beginner knife skills class. Learn how to safely use and sharpen a knife while carving multiple useful projects. Students will use fixed blade knives while sitting around the fire. This class will also include how to select wood, various knife grips, how to choose the best knife for you, and much more. Open to adults and families. Minors must attend with a parent. There is no age minimum, but it is up to the parents of the child to decide if they are ready to learn knife skills. Usually, age 7 and up is a good time to start children in these classes. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Depending on group interest, we will carve a few projects from this list:

  • Feather Sticks
  • Cooking Hooks
  • Wall Hooks
  • Tent Stakes
  • Spoons
  • Butter Knives
  • Rabbit Sticks

Required Gear:

Knives and sharpeners will also be available for sale at class.

Parent participation is not mandatory but their attendance is. This is a family class and structured to involve adults, teens, and children in the same class.
