South Dakota Biotech is the state affiliate of the Biotech Industry Organization (BIO). A non-profit association dedicated to developing biotechnology through expanding research, advocacy, funding, education, infrastructure development and promotion. Formed in 2006, South Dakota Biotech serves a membership which includes business, higher education, universities, service providers and state-wide economic development entities to expand the bioscience industry. To learn more, visit sdbio.org.

Fall 2020 Startup School: Free workshops, breakfast, resources, and networking opportunities!

South Dakota Biotech Association, in partnership with Sustainable Heartland Accelerator Regional Partnership Hub (SHARPhub) and Dakota Research and Consulting Organization (DRACO), is hosting a Startup School this Fall for those interested in entrepreneurship.Free one hour workshops will run weekly from 8:45 to 10 a.m. CDT starting October 1st. These workshops led by local entrepreneurs will provide applicable knowledge and useful insight into the world of small business. This year's topics include:<ul><li>What it Takes to Be an Entrepreneur </li><li>Funding your Startup</li><li>Building an Effective Management Team</li><li>Intellectual Property</li><li>Understanding the Regulatory Environment</li></ul>Speakers will appear live to a socially distant audience in Sioux Falls at the Zeal Center for Entrepreneurship in Conference Rooms A+B and in Rapid City at the School for Mines and Technology in Room EP 252 in the Electrical and Physics Building.
