Fairfield Internship Certification

Sustainable Solano is a grassroots, countywide movement uniting people through work that aims to serve the future of Solano County, to promote ecologically regenerative, economically and socially just communities in a world that works for everyone. We nurture initiatives for the good of the whole. Sustainable Solano has grown out of decades of dedicated community work that started with community gardens and has grown to include an emphasis on creating sustainable, regenerative environments, community capacity building, supporting local food systems and building youth leadership and workforce skills for a better future.

Sustainable Solano

High school students must participate in a certification sessions before starting a SuSol internship. These sessions require 3 meetings.

Solano County Library - Fairfield Civic Center Library

These engaging certification sessions explore environmental challenges at a global, community and individual level, bringing the discussion to bear on youth leadership and engagement around environmental justice. Certification sessions are free to attend and open to any Solano high school student. Students do not need to apply for an internship to participate in the certification.This upcoming certification will be held from 5-6 pm at Fairfield Civic Center Library on:<ul><li>Wednesday, Oct. 5 (in-person)</li><li>Wednesday, Oct. 12 (in-person)</li><li>and over Zoom from 5-6:30 pm on Wednesday, Oct. 19</li></ul>These meetings are offered as part of the Youth Air Protectors internship program, but any high school student is welcome to participate in the 3-meeting certification session. S﻿tudents do not need to live in Fairfield to participate.During certification, students will participate in <ul><li>Pachamama Alliance’s Awakening the Dreamer course and reflect on their vision for the world through a collage-art project, </li><li>One Planet Living principles as a sustainability framework and approach to shaping personal action plans, and</li><li>Learn how to research environmental challenges within their communities.</li></ul>T﻿here will be some required work outside of the meetings to prepare for each meeting.Learn more about SuSol internship opportunities here: <a href="https://sustainablesolano.org/youth-engagement/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://sustainablesolano.org/youth-engagement/ </a>Questions?
