CFT is proud to be a local and national leader in raising awareness about and building support for fair trade and its principles of environmental sustainability, ethical production methods, fair wages, and safe working conditions.​The Chicago area has a thriving fair trade economy,unmatched anywhere in the United States. We boastmore than fifty fair trade businesses, and our numbers are growing every day. In this hour-long session, you'll learn what fair trade actually means, how the global fair trade movement addresses historical trade injustices, how to identify products made following fair trade principles, and how to make a genuine difference with your dollars, even on a budget.This online event is FREE to attend. Everyone who signs up will receive a Zoom link via email.What is World Fair Trade Day? This event is part of Chicago Fair Trade's World Fair Trade Day Celebrations! World Fair Trade Day is an inclusive worldwide festival of events celebrating fair trade and its critical role in combating income inequality, exploitation, and climate change. Hundreds of celebrations will take place in May in over seventy countries. Chicago's celebration, hosted by local 501(c)3 nonprofit Chicago Fair Trade, is the biggest World Fair Trade Day event in the US.
