About this event

Our Faculty Webinar Series continues on September 9 with a conversation about the intersection of race, gender, class and women's suffrage. Professors Taunya Banks and Paula Monopoli will discuss the complex history of the struggle for full citizenship, as described in Professor Monopoli's new book, Constitutional Orphan: Gender Equality and the Nineteenth Amendment (Oxford University Press 2020). Moderated by Associate Dean Peter Danchin, Professors Banks and Monopoli will discuss the connections between the Fifteenth and the Nineteenth Amendments, racism within the suffrage movement and the potential impact of the Nineteenth on voting rights today.
