<h2>Learning Series Overview</h2><p>This three-part learning series is designed to invite facilitators, (from aspiring to experts), to bring—and deepen—an equity dimension to their work with groups. In the series, we will specifically explore oppressions at the intersection of race. We will have conversations and reflect together as practitioners, considering our shared-and-individual experiences and ways of working.</p><h3>Dates</h3><p>August 3, 10, and 17th at </p><ul><li>08:00 - 10:30 Pacific US Daylight Time, </li><li>10:00 - 12:30 Central US Daylight Time, </li><li>11:00 - 13:30 Eastern US Daylight Time, </li><li>16:00 - 18:30 British Summer Time, </li><li>17:00 - 19:30 Central European Summer Time, </li><li>20:30 - 23:00 India Standard Time</li></ul><h2></h2><h2>Sequence and Session Topics</h2><p>The learning series is 3 weeks long, consisting of 3 live sessions with pre-work before each session, consisting of readings, listens, and reflective time. Prior to the series, participants will be invited to respond to a survey. What to Expect</h2><p>We hope this information will help you decide whether this series is right for you, right now.</p><p><strong>This is not a how-to series on bringing facilitative methods to equity work.</strong> Rather, this is an invitation to explore together how we can strengthen our antiracism and racial equity lenses as applied to our facilitative work.</p><p>As facilitators, we account for and rely on the Liberating Structures and complexity theme of emergence in our discussion.  Which means that although some elements are prescribed, we will move towards whatever conversation the room needs to have, exploring that terrain together as we move along. A sense of openness to learning, and trust in the process, will be helpful as we enter into these conversations with each other.</p><p>The design for this workshop invites deep personal and shared reflection. As organizers, we do not presume that we have all answers or solutions to offer this group. We see ourselves as offering structure, and acting as guides, throughout the series.</p><p>Some of our conversations will take place in racially mixed groups, and some conversations will take place in affinity or identity-related groups.</p><h2></h2><h2>About the Organizers</h2><p><strong>Nakia Winfield</strong> is a community organizer, political social worker, and professional trainer with deep experience in anti-racism, leadership development, and policy analysis. She uses an interdisciplinary, anti-oppressive lens to examine power dynamics across social systems and help organizations find effective, human-centered solutions for their work. Nakia is currently an independent equity consultant and has been contracted with the City of Austin to facilitate the Austin Police Department through the Equity Tool. She has conducted anti-racist workshops and business analyses with non-profits and institutions of higher learning, including Indiana Youth Group and the University of Texas School of Social Work.</p><p>Learn more at <a href="https://thegrowingedge.squarespace.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://thegrowingedge.squarespace.com/</a> </p><p><strong>LiLi Kathleen Bright</strong> is a coach, facilitator, nature guide, ecopoet and climate fiction writer based in London, UK. Their background includes agile coaching, running vegan cafes, product management and web design &amp; development. They’re a keen birder and tree nerd/witch, who’s enthusiastic about creativity, wellbeing, learning and regenerative ways of working.</p><p>Learn more at <a href="http://cherrytreewalk.com" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">cherrytreewalk.com</a></p><p><strong>Derek Hoshiko </strong>is an organizer, speaker, and facilitator based in Northwest Washington state, USA. In 2015, he journeyed 1,000 miles on a bicycle pilgrimage from Seattle to the tar sands to witness and learn the suffering caused by fossil fuel extraction. He now heads Rapid and Just Climate Action, a project to stop global warming by 2030, and mentors youth climate justice coalition United Student Leaders. Derek serves on the board of E3 Washington and Salish Sea Cooperative Finance, and has worked for change at For the People; Greenpeace USA; Climate Solutions; YES! Since 2009, Anna has focused much of her work on shifting the mental health system into one that is person-centered, recovery-oriented, and led by people with lived mental health experience.
