About this event
This online workshop is designed for block printers of all levels who'd like to improve their fabric printing skills. This course is focused on the inking and pressing stage of the block printing process, which is really where the trickiness lies when we are troubleshooting what is going wrong with our fabric prints. The online session will include instruction covering topics such as materials & tools, fabric preparation, some different ways of inking and pressing, troubleshooting, and care of our printed fabric items. There will also be some time to work on our projects together, ask questions, and show off your work at the end of class. If you cannot make it to the live session, a recording of the workshop will be sent to all attendees a few days after the class ends.
Frequently asked questions
You are welcome to attend without any materials, but it will be a different experience where you will mostly be watching and listening. If you'd like the full experience of trying out printing, asking questions, and having a finished piece at the end I highly recommend ordering supplies in advance!
You do not need to attend the live workshop. Many people plan to watch the recording due to time constraints or time zone conflicts. Please let me know if you aren't planning to attend since it allows me to open up more seats to folks who will be attending the live workshop.
You are not required to have your camera on during the workshop, and I encourage folks to do what is most comfortable for them for any reason. It does really help me plan the workshop to know in advance if you are planning to participate on camera or not.
There is a supply list on the event page. If you have trouble finding the list once you've registered, or if you have trouble finding any of the supplies or have questions please email me right away so we can be sure you have what you need in time for the event
This will be helpful if you have a lot of experience but sometimes struggle on fabric, and is also great for beginners. PLEASE NOTE the block carving portion of the process is covered in a separate workshop and folks are expected to have a block ready for printing to participate in this workshop.
