Description

Join us to tour the Newseum with area journalism groups

The Newseum will not be open in its present location on Pennsylvania Avenue past Dec. 31, 2019.

So if you haven't been, or haven't been lately, join us Saturday, Sept. 21, for a guided tour with journalism colleagues and find out what you've been missing about the collection of journalism-related things that put the process of reporting the news in context of the everyday life into which newsworthy happenings burst.

Aspiring and current journalists are invited to tour the Newseum in downtown Washington, D.C., at 1 p.m. that Saturday. After your summer activities conclude, there won't be much time left before this location closes for good.

What better way to head indoors for an afternoon than to be in the company of colleagues who fully understand what you might be thinking about when you see iconic objects that recall historic moments in news and journalism history?

Organizers are the Society of Professional Journalists DC Pro and Maryland Pro chapters; the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association; the Baltimore Association of Black Journalists; and Reporters Without Borders. Membership in one of these groups for attendees is preferred, but not required.

Because space is limited, attendance is first-come, first-served. The Newseum will provide a tour guide. After the tour, which will last approximately one hour, browse on your own until closing at 5 p.m. You’re also welcome to drop by a journalist meet-up at the nearby Elephant & Castle restaurant at 1201 Pennsylvania Ave., NW, in Washington, D.C. It's about six blocks west of the Newseum.

Cost is $21 per adult. You must register and pay here.

(Note that the listed refund policy is through Eventbrite. If you cancel your order after paying and seek a refund, Eventbrite will keep the processing fees you paid.)

HOPE TO SEE YOU THERE!
